Modena Reserve is part of the Solera Senior Living suite. Their philosophy breaks down barriers between Assisted and Independent Living by providing a crossover of lifestyles. Assisted Living residents have the choice to dine and lounge on AL apartment floors or choose to interact with other residents on the main floor. Solera’s Lifestyle Integration focuses on creating relationships and reducing ageism rather than segregating residents based on ADLs. Staff interacts daily with residents that equals or surpasses the finest hotels and resorts. This level of resident services is complemented by the level of activities and architectural detail.

Materials were selected specifically to energize and engage the residents and the outside community, along with an attached Cafe open for public and private use.

This new Senior Living Community is located 10 miles outside of Washington, DC on a prominent Metro Transit Line in Kensington, Maryland. Residents can interact with commuters and reminisce about the times they would head into the nation’s capital for business.

The design of the building preserves the historic feel of the area, while also utilizing modern ideas and concepts borrowed from the hospitality industry.

Designed around a central activity courtyard, floor-to-ceiling glass was incorporated into amenity spaces adjacent to the courtyard. This provided for the expansion of social opportunities through the variety of indoor-connected outdoor functions and spaces.
